In 1987, Kaneko had built Super Qix
for Taito, now they used this experience for
a Qix-style arcade machine of
their own. It was not the first arcade machine to reward the
successful player with sexy pictures (both Puzznic and Shisen-Sho had done it
earlier, at the very least), but it integrated those pictures into
gameplay in a way that had not been done before.
Gals Panic changed the gameplay of the original Qix somewhat, not the conquered percentage of the total playing field counts, but only the percentage of the girl's shilouette. Gals Panic also introduced the concept that if the player dabbles too long, the pic is changed to something less attractive, a concept that many other erotic Qix clones took over.
